Love summer.

Hate severe weather.

Earlier, this afternoon, after 13 straight days of clouds and rain, I hit up the deck to catch some UVs. Shitty thing is - with the heat, comes the storms. I enjoy the relaxation & hydration of the of the occasional thunderstorm. My faja's a farmer, and of course I know how important that rain is. As I sit in my apartment on the top floor, watching the tube - talking about tornado warnings and baseball-size hail, I just wonder why? Tornadoes are scary. We were all sitting in class - - for most of us the last class of the quarter. OH YEAH - - I'm down to one now! ;] ANWAYS, hearing about the crappy weather, no one really wanted to travel. However, after a few minutes of debating, we decided that unless you're heading west (which is where all of the action is going on) you should be fine. SOOOooo, I took off on my walk home (5 blocks). The damn wind almost blew me over! Then, a block over, on Nicollet Mall, I was really suprised to see the outdoor restaurant seating to be full. - - Hmmm, crazies. Not-to-mention that last summer, it was the same deal. I was sitting in class - - sirens were blaring and we were supposed to 'calmly' watch a movie about 1990's art. wtf? The result of that was a tornado touchdown by the convention center, which is about 2 blocks from my apartment, so I was a little taken back. Anyways, as I am ranting, the tree outside my window is swaying so hard that I think it may come through the screen on my open window. Better shut it.

Kabobs. . .

vs. the LARGE fry.

So, this past weekend, Jon and I decided that we wanted to make a good supper, while we were at home in Litch. We like cooking together and he's been on some sort of a health kick for a while now. We decided on kabobs - quite simple, cut up some veggies (our faves include: PINEAPPLE (mmm-sry, fruit), cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, red onion, green and red pepper. . we're def. going to add some garden potatoes when they come!)- add meats of choice - and throw 'em on the grill (add some rice for a filler). Since I only eat fish, and shrimp is still 'OK' by me, that was mine. Chicky for Jon, classsssssic. Turned out AMAzzzzzzzing! Who would have thunk it? - - We were proud and so in love that we made them again last night - - of course they turned out even better! Maybe that's because we were so hungry, but either way. :)

A few hours later, Miss "High-Metabolism" Me, decided that supper was just too healthy and I was cravin' the grease. Luckily, Jon knows me too well and I just hAAAAAAAAd to have my large McD's french fry. And the clouds opened up and the angels sang.

We move in. . .

September 1st. :)

Today, Jerry and Nina came with us to the KARINSPLASS (yes, Jon's pick) Apartments. The condo (my pick) was snatched by a smart person. Hmmm, oh well, I guess we couldn't expect the owner to hold it 'til August, the earliest that we would be moving in...The leasing agent informed me that he would only be staying for a year - - I guess that will come soon enough, if I still am having dreams about it. haha. Another positive note - - I don't have to listen to Jon Jon moan and groan about driving a whole 2 miles to school. NO EXCUSES to be late for classes now, buddy. :) Noooo, it's probably good for him, for the first year, at least - - so he gets a little more settled. I am SOO excited to be moving in w/ my boy, finnnnnallly. Of course, we've heard the whole, well don't you want to wait? ...It might ruin something, or take the special-ness out of it, for later. HAHAA. JEEzzz. Bottom line is, we are adults. We are poor college students (at the moment) - we're constantly at eachother's places - and we have done it before...yessssirrrr - - In a FREAKIN' studio. Good times. hahaha. It has to happen sooner or later, right? :)I have been dealing with finals for the past week and will be 'enduring' my last of Spring Qtr. 2010 - next week. SOOO excited to be done for a month - - what will I do?! I'll tell you what I won't be doing, thinking of school. Well, I guess I still have my internship - - but that's actually fun. Whhhhewwww, deep breath. Night Y'all. :)

I enjoy taking pictures. . .

Of anything and everything.

Ahhhhhh. . .

Decisions, decisions.

Jon-boy and I went to 4 apartment showings on Wednesday...and easily ruled out 2 of them. That means we narrowed it down to two, and why? . . because we each love one. EFFFFFfffff..not good, when you have two, stubborn people trying to come to a consensus. NOT TO MENTION, both of the apartments are being checked out by other people...therefore, we may end up with neither. Who knew this would be so hard..maybe someone could help us decide - - neutral partyyy!

Jon's Pick: Karinsplass Apartments
$900/month - - It's practically right on campus - - which is definitely the butter to his bread, so to speak. haha. It has underground, heated parking (additional $65/mo.), or street parking (permit - $25/yr) all utilities paid, tenant pays only electric (around $30/mo.) Pretty spacious - lots of closet space. Coin laundry down the hall...and elevator. With internet and cable, we figured it would come out around $1,000 a month. Cons - downtown feel, little noisy, lack of street parking (during school time), kinda spendy.

Kelsey's Pick: Condo in NE Minneapolis
$850/month - - 2.3 miles from Augsburg (this is 'too far' for Jon to drive) jeeeezzzz. A great plus to this place, is the peacefulness. Having lived downtown for a couple of years, I am ready to get away from the craziness of it all. It's like you're in a suburb, yet a couple miles away from it all. Totally remodeled, one free parking spot in the lot and more on the street (no permit). Stainless steel appliances, and get this: washer and dryer IN THE UNIT. . .i have been confined to coin laundry for the past 3 years - hence why I don't do laundry and just save it 'til I go home. Sucky, I know...but I can't really find the sense in spending $6 to wash and dry my clothes..Cons - - 3rd floor & no elevator, the horrid distance to Augs. and it's available now - we are looking for September, so I'm pretty sure it's going to go FAAAaaast. Tenant only pays electric and cable/internet. We figured it would total around $930/month.
Like I asked Jon - - are you willing to sacrifice quality for location? - - of course, he said, yes. He's a boy, I'm assuming 5 mins. more of sleep in the AM vs. laundry takes priority. Although he does really like it - - I wish we could just take this apartment and plant it on the edge of campus...hmm, wouldn't that be nice? ANnnnnd, I won the coin toss - best out of 3, then best out of 5...that says something...hmmm....wish us luck.

I'm starting the countdown - -

at 4 months, 'til GRADUATION...

Well, with weekends and all that noise, LESS than that! I am SOOOOO excited, as I'm sure most of you already know...I mean, who wouldn't be?! Tomorrow Jon and I will continue our search for the 'perfect' apartment. Our definition of perfect is 1] close to the Augsburg campus, considering there will be hockey every morning, and of course, school. 2] no bugs or rodents of any kind. 3] reasonably priced. Being that we are students, we are on quite the budget. It will be nice living out of the cities someday soon, considering living is more spendy here..compared to say - - good ol' Litch, or St. Cloud, but what's there anyway?

We'll be lookin' at a few places, the one's that are pretty close to being perfect...but that could all change and we're prepared for that. Nothing's ever easy, haha. Jon won't be starting school until August and my lease will go through September, so I guess it's still a little ways away....

Now, to end this amazing day, I'll be watchin' Dear John, with my own, Dear Jon...(without the H) ;] ohhhh, how cheesy.
