Ever since my car died on me in the MOA parking lot almost 3 months ago, I have been consumed with the whole car search. Well, NO MORE, people - and thank god, because that shit practically made me go insane. Whoever said used car shopping was glamorous obviously didn't have a price range. On my wish list: 1] reliability 2] fuel efficiency 3] small, hatchback - - the TOP choices: 1] Toyota Yaris 2] Honda Fit 3] Chevrolet Aveo - I had no idea how fast these things would fly off of the lots - mostly because I started the search before gas was $4.00/gallon.
Initially, I was casually searching online and pulling into random car lots. By the end, I pretty much turned into a stalker. An interesting note - if you bring along your boyfriend, or another man, to a dealership with you, most will speak directly to them. I found this to be extremely annoying. It's obvious that these 3 picks are definitely a few of the most popular cars in the metropolitan area right now - but after 3 months, befriending 30+ car salesmen (gag me), watching auctions and countless, "sorry, we just sold that yesterday" (but we're too lazy to take our ads offline)... I finally found IT. Everything I want and MORE - even with the manual windows and door locks. One thing I know for sure - never will I ever, AGAIN, underestimate the luxury of air conditioning in a car. And please, someone quote me when I say that, for the next 5-10 years, i'll stick to shoe and handbag purchases.
Congrats to ya! Finding the car that you want, after a long journey of searching for that one vehicle, gives a terrific feeling. All that hard work makes driving the car all the more worth it.
